Massimo Salvato Biography
Massimo Salvato was born in Nocera Inferiore (Southern Italy) on September 8, 1971.
In Massimo´s childhood years his favourite movies were the westerns by Sergio Leone.
Massimo studied economics in Italy before exploring his passion for theatre and cinema, achieving a Master's Degree in Film at the International Film School Wales in 2005. He has business and film industry experience both in Italy and the UK. In 1998 he co-founded a cultural association in Italy organising nationally recognised events such as short film festivals, music events, theatre events, art exhibitions, courses and charity events.
In 1997 he first got credited in the documentary by the Italian writer and filmmaker Antonio Medici QUI CREA STA', about the futurist Luigi Stabile (1900-2004).
In 2004 he wrote, produced and directed CARMEN, a challenging UK and Italian short film co-production dealing with gender issues and rural conservatism which won him critical acclaim amongst his peers and at film festivals internationally.
In 2007 his first feature film script SAILS, OPERA ONE won him a place at the Ekran European Training Programme for Film Professionals at the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, Warsaw, Poland. Within Ekran he shot one short film and two test sequences from his feature script.
Massimo is now pushing his short MUSE towards production. MUSE is the first film part of a 4 year plan, including also another short film now in development and his feature film SAILS, OPERA ONE.
Massimo is a Visiting Tutor in Film and Visual Culture at the International Film School Wales. He is Course Leader in Film Studies. He also teaches A Level Media Studies and runs filmmaking modules for BTEC Media and Fine Art students in Coleg Gwent, South Wales.
